Hacker arrested, credit cards and equipment seized - dailytimes.com.pk - 16 Aug 2008

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle claimed on Friday to have arrested an active member of an international gang of hackers and to have seized 11 counterfeit credit cards, two laptops, three flash drives, a memory card, six SIMs and a Magnetic Strip Reader and Writer (MSR).

The authorities also claimed to have recovered, live data of several credit cards of various people and several copies of passports. Cyber Crime Circle Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Syed Shahid Hassan said that their sources had informed them about the gang involved in manufacturing counterfeit credit cards. He said that a team of Cyber Crime Circle searched for the members of the gang and arrested Khalid Naveed, one of the counterfeiters, while he was supplying forged credit cards to one of his assistants in Wahdat Colony. He said that according to his information, there were only two more MRS machines in the city.

The SHO said that the arrested man belonged to Sangoi, Jhelum, and knew many languages including English, Chinese and Arabic. He said that Naveed was staying in a guesthouse situated near Allama Iqbal International Airport. He said that the authorities had contacted Interpol for the arrest of other members of the gang in England and Dubai.

He said that it was the first case in the history of the Cyber Crime Circle that was registered without any complaints.
