2 held for fraud - The Hindu - 6 May 2009

TAMBARAM: The Chennai Suburban Police have arrested two men on charges of cheating a group of men, after collecting huge sums of cash from them on the pretext of getting jobs in leading private and multinational companies.

A press release from Chennai Suburban Police Commissioner S.R. Jangid said that they were acting on a complaint from S. Mani of Tiruttani that he had given Rs.50,000 to Ravi and Naveen, who assured him of getting a job in the marketing section of a multinational firm.

In his complaint, Mani had stated that neither did the duo get him a job as promised nor returned the cash. Following the complaint, investigations by the Central Crime Branch of the suburban police revealed that Ravi and Naveen had cheated 10 persons after collecting Rs.6.5 lakh from them, promising them jobs in the same firm.

Ravi and Naveen were picked up from Koyambedu bus stand on Sunday. During interrogation, the two are reported to have confessed to the crime. Investigations are on, the release said.
